Sylvia Diane Kitio Nganou

Pedagogical professional/educator & GfL teacher

About me

I am Sylvia Diane Kitio Nganou, originally from Cameroon, and I recently successfully completed my Master's degree in Educational Science and Media Studies at the University of Paderborn. My academic path has not only equipped me with in-depth expertise in the fields of education, language, and media, but it has also strengthened my passion for intercultural communication and integration.

I am an open-minded, eager-to-learn, and resilient person with initial practical experience in media design and graphic design, as well as a strong interest in exploring topics related to language, integration, and intercultural exchange.
Beyond my studies, I have been actively involved in volunteer work with great enthusiasm and dedication. From July 2018 to December 2024, I served as the Cultural officer of the African Students' Community (ASG) Paderborn, a recognised university association at Paderborn University, where I organised cultural events and facilitated networking opportunities for African students from different countries. Additionally, from April 2021 to March 2024, I worked in the online editorial department of L’UniCo, Paderborn University's radio station, where I was able to further develop my media skills and graphic design know-how.

During my work as a research assistant in the field of "German as a second language, German as a foreign language (DaZ/DaF) and Multilingualism" at Paderborn University, I gained valuable insights into the challenges and needs of international students while demonstrating my intercultural competence. This experience has provided me with the necessary expertise and skills to competently prepare, conduct, and follow up on DaF language courses. My strengths include a structured and committed way of working, communication skills, organisation and time management as well as the ability to respond creatively to the individual needs of learners.

I firmly believe that the linguistic integration of international students is a key factor for their academic success, their social integration and their professional future. That is why I am delighted to be a GFL teacher and to be able to support learners in their language development as well as help them on their educational journey.
