Learning objectives

This course is aimed at students who have achieved at least 80 points in the placement test (level B2/C1) and want to improve their speaking skills. This communication course focuses on using English effectively and flexibly in presentations, debates and discussions and expressing yourself appropriately in university-related conversational situations. The course covers topics from the fields of society, culture, as well as knowledge, the environment and business.

Speaking

Oral interaction and production will be practised in a variety of situations so that students can

- learn useful vocabulary for presenting in English

- keep up in a discussion and convincingly defend a position, recognise pros and cons and respond to complex counter-arguments (e.g. during group work or in a debate)

- be able to present complex topics in a structured and clear manner, presenting their own points of view in detail and supporting them with suitable examples and reasons (e.g. in presentations).

Active and regular participation: 20% (proof by attendance list)
