Prerequisites

Participation in Spanish B2.1 or proof of comparable prior knowledge (B2.1 level)

Learning objectives

The course is based on level B2.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. All skills are practised, the textbooks used are "Aula internacional 3 Nueva Edición" (lessons 10-12) and "Aula internacional 4 Nueva Edición" (lessons 1-6).

Listening

In the course, students familiarise themselves with the following types of text:

- Surveys

- podcasts

- Interviews and radio programmes

- Short films

- Argumentative discussions

Reading

Students will be able to read more complex texts and understand the main points, e.g.

- Articles, features and reports on current topics

- Forum contributions

- Travelogues and travel guides

- academic and professional calls for proposals

- letters to the editor

- advertising campaigns

Oral interaction

Oral interaction in various situations is practised so that students can, for example

- spontaneously and fluently state arguments and views on current topics in a discussion with native speakers

- talk about advantages and disadvantages

Oral production

Students are enabled to provide clear and detailed

- give information about themselves in the context of a job interview

- give a presentation on a familiar topic

Writing

Students should be able to, for example

- write clear and detailed texts on a variety of topics of interest to them, emphasising the personal significance of events and experiences

- write travelogues

- write motivational letters and letters of application

Grammatical focus

- the imperfecto de subjuntivo

- conditional sentences

- Relative clauses with indicativo and subjuntivo in the present and past tenses

- Relative clauses (oraciones explicativas y especificativas)

- Relative pronouns

- the infinitivo compuesto

- the pretérito perfecto de subjuntivo

The skills and linguistic resources acquired and practised at this level enable students to receive and produce demanding (clear and detailed) texts. In addition, spontaneous and fluent conversation with native speakers is possible.

Proof of performance through

- regular attendance (attendance records are kept)

- Written exam lasting approx. 135 min

- Oral examination lasting approx. 15 min
