Writing in Academic Contexts

Prerequisites | Oxford Online Placement Test (minimum score 80) |
Learning objectives/content | This course is aimed at students who have achieved at least 80 points in the placement test (B2/C1) and want to work on their writing skills. The course offers exercises to master language skills such as summarising, planning written work, structuring paragraphs and longer texts and searching for literature. Knowledge of connectors, punctuation and language registers is also taught. |
| On completion of the course, students should be able to - summarise texts appropriately( createsummaries ) - identify different academic genres (e.g. abstracts, introductions and conclusions) - use their own notes to plan sentences, paragraphs and entire genre-specific texts and write them coherently in academic style |
