Erasmus+ Student Mobility (SMS)
Key Action 131: Mobility of Individuals within Europe
Erasmus+ is the European Union's programme for education, training, youth and sport 2021-2027. Erasmus+ brings together the previous EU programmes for lifelong learning, youth and sport, and the European cooperation programmes in higher education. 14.7 billion euros are available to support more than four million young people and 125,000 institutions and organisations. The seven-year programme aims to improve skills and employability and to advance the modernisation of education, training and child and youth welfare systems. Your semester abroad (SMS - student mobility studies) at one of our Erasmus+ partner universities is funded under Key Action 131 - Individual Mobility.
The Erasmus+ scholarship
Students can receive an Erasmus+ scholarship for up to 12 months (=360 days) per study phase (bachelor's, master's, doctorate) and in any combination of Erasmus+ study abroad and Erasmus+ internship abroad. The Erasmus+ scholarship is a partial scholarship. The amount of funding depends on the country group of the destination country. First-time academics, working students, students with children, disabilities, or chronic illnesses have the option of applying for a supplement. You can also claim additional travel days if you cover at least 50% of the journey to and from your destination using sustainable means of transport.
- You are exempt from tuition fees at the partner university.
- The University of Paderborn, the partner university, and the European Student Network will support you before, during, and after your mobility period.
- With the help of the Learning Agreement, your academic achievements abroad will be recognized.
- You can improve your language skills in free online language courses.
- Your rights are defined in the Erasmus+ Student Charter
As an Erasmus+ student, you are required to prepare and submit certain documents and paperwork before, during, and after your mobility period. You can find a detailed list here.
Apply to the International Office for one or two semesters abroad at a partner university in an Erasmus+ program country. If you are accepted for an exchange, you will be enrolled in Erasmus+ without having to submit a further application.
