Living
Compared to other university cities, Paderborn still offers affordable housing, all while being centrally located and quietly charming. Paderborn is home to many beautiful neighbourhoods. We would be delighted to help you find the perfect new home.
There are many beautiful public squares and parks, which are perfect for socialising and unwinding. Without a doubt, the city’s stand-out landmark is our Dom (cathedral) – some even say it is one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Germany. Paderborn's unique urban oasis and popular meeting place is the Paderquellgebiet (website in german only) affectionately known as “PQ”, and the surrounding Paderwiesen, which is our very own version of Munich's English Garden.
Paderborn — Home to Our University
Our city's green spaces, welcoming atmosphere, and easy-to-navigate layout attract both residents and visitors alike. Paderborn uniquely combines a modern city infrastructure (website available only in German) with scenic landscapes (website available only in German and Dutch) and a high-tech economy with a rich medieval heritage. Our city, the birthplace of the river Pader, is a great place to live, work, and study. In addition to traditional events such as the annual city-wide fair Libori (website available only in German), Paderborn has cultivated a rich and diverse cultural environment, which has been significantly shaped by our student population. Paderborn University is committed to developing and supporting this important aspect of our city's identity. Find more information on the city of Paderborn website.
