Executive Board of Paderborn University

Paderborn University is governed by the Executive Board. It consists of the President and five Vice-Presidents, each of whom is responsible for a specific area. In addition to the President, the Vice-President for Finances and Human Resources holds a full-time position. In collaboration with other governing bodies, the Executive Board oversees the organisation and ongoing development of research and teaching at Paderborn University. The current Executive Board took office on 1 April 2025.

High­er Edu­ca­tion De­vel­op­ment

The Higher Education Development Office is responsible for enhancing the quality of teaching and supporting professional development at Paderborn University. Data Pro­tec­tion

The Data Protection Office provides information and advice on how Paderborn University processes personal data in research, teaching, and administration, including the implementation of data subject rights. Additionally, it offers data protection templates to help members of the University meet the requirements set out in the GDPR.

In­ter­na­tion­al Re­la­tions

The International Relations Office serves as the central coordinating body for the University’s international affairs. In addition to developing and expanding international partnerships and overseeing key projects, it is also responsible for supporting international researchers and alumni.

Or­gan­isa­tion­al Ad­vice and In­tern­al Audit­ing

The Organisational Advice and Internal Auditing Office offers auditing and consulting services. It aims to optimise workflows throughout the University with regard to compliance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, in line with modern administrative practices, while minimising risks.

Press, Com­mu­nic­a­tions and Mar­ket­ing

The Press, Communication and Marketing Office promotes the visibility of Paderborn University and oversees the University’s strategic communications.. Furthermore, it advises members of the University on all matters relating to public relations.

Aca­dem­ic Ca­reer De­vel­op­ment

The Academic Career Development Office supports early-career researchers as they navigate the distinct challenges of each stage in their academic career, including the doctoral qualification phase, the postdoctoral orientation phase, or the profile-strengthening phase on the way to a professorship.

Consilia

At Paderborn University, the Executive Board and the Faculties maintain a close and productive collaboration. The Consilium Decanale is comprised of the Executive Board, the Deans of each of the Faculties, as well as the Director of PLAZ — Professional School of Education, forming the University’s extended executive board.

The Consilium of the Vice-Deans of Studies carries out the practical implementation of quality management in teaching and learning across the University. Among its members are the Vice-Deans of Studies from each of the five Faculties, a member of the PLAZ Board of Directors, and the Vice-President for Teaching, Studies and Quality Management.
