Please note also the following options for international interns at Paderborn University:

 

In­tern­ship as ex­change stu­dent

  • Nomination as exchange student by a partner university of Paderborn University required
  • Enrollment at Paderborn University as exchange student
  • Payment of administrative semester fee (no tuition fee) is mandatory - includes Germany-Semester Ticket for free travel all over Germany
  • Health insurance in Germany is mandatory. It needs to be taken out from the beginning of the semester, but can be cancelled on the day of departure (even before the semester ends). EU citizens with health insurance in a EU state usually can get a waiver
  • Entry into Germany with study visa (if required - see visa navigator of the Federal Foreign Office)
  • With student residence permit: work permit for 120 full or 240 half days per year
  • Dormitory accommodation provided by Student Services (subject to availability). Renting period: 4 months minimum, short term mobiliies (e.g. from May to July) have to pay the complete rent and deposit in one part
  • Orientation program for exchange students (optional)
  • Semester program with cultural and leisure activities throughout the semester (optional)  
  • Buddy Programm with Paderborn students (optional)
  • Free German courses (optional): Intensive Course before semester start (5 credits), Semester Afternoon Course Sourse during the semester (8 credits)
  • Access to campus management system PAUL (from the start of the semester)
  • Library access

In­d­vidu­al In­tern­ship

  • Internship contract with host institution required
  • Entry into Germany with work visa for internships required - depending on nationality (see visa navigator of the Federal Foreign Office)
  • No enrollment
  • No semester fee payment required
  • Individual Health insurance required, depending on nationality
  • Accident and liability insurance for abroad required
  • Individual University account for guests is possible (please contact supervising working group). Advantages: University Wlan + VPN, acess to learnung platforms Como and Panda, university email address, access to university canteen “Mensa”
