Fees and contributions
Semester fee
The fee for the winter semester 2024/2025 amounts to a total of 279,60€ and is made up as follows

If you are not yet studying at Paderborn University and would like to enrol, you will receive detailed information on this by email or (in the case of an application for a degree programme with restricted admission) in your letter of admission.
If you are already enrolled, you will receive an e-mail with relevant information on re-enrolment in good time.
For semesters on leave of absence, the amount of the semester fees depends on the grounds for the leave of absence.
Guest auditorium fee
A fee of €100.00 per semester is charged for guest auditors.
Secondary membership fee
A fee of €100.00 per semester is charged for the "Kleine Zweith?rerschaft".

Re-registration
If you wish to continue your studies in the same degree programme after the end of the semester, you must re-register. This is deemed to have been carried out if the semester fees have been received in full in the university's account by the deadline.

You can see whether you have been successfully re-registered in PAUL under My data > Personal data > Semester status.
For re-registration for the "Gro?e Zweith?rerschaft" in the winter semester 2024/2025, the certificate of enrolment from the first university must be received by the Registrar's Office by 30.09.2024. Exception: Students of the subject area Music in the Teacher Training Programme GyGe who are enrolled as first-year students at the Detmold University of Music and students with the vocational subject areas Nutrition Science and Home Economics with Food Technology in the Teacher Training Programme BK who are enrolled as first-year students at the OWL University of Applied Sciences are exempt from the re-registration requirement.
Admission to the "Kleine Zweith?rerschaft" is always only for the duration of one semester. If you are still interested in attending courses, you must re-apply for admission.
Important notes:

Allow for the processing time of your bank (time between transfer and receipt of payment). The time of receipt of payment on the university account counts.

Payments that are received without a matriculation number or with an incorrect matriculation number and that cannot be allocated will be transferred back and there will be no re-registration.

If re-registration is not completed on time, the de-registration procedure will be initiated.

Registration for modules and courses (in the registration and deregistration phases) is only possible once payment has been received in the Paderborn University account.
Reimbursement of semester fees
The semester fees can be refunded in full or in part within certain deadlines for the following reasons:
Disability | Persons with severe disabilities who are entitled to use public transport free of charge in accordance with SGB IX can apply for a refund of the semester ticket (PAUL > Studium > Antr?ge). | |
In the case of a leave of absence, it is possible to apply for a refund of the semester ticket (PAUL > Studium > Antr?ge). The application must be submitted before the start of the semester of leave (i.e. by 30 September / 31 March). In addition, in the event of a leave of absence due to illness, studies at a foreign university, recognised service or pregnancy, the social contribution is automatically refunded, provided that the contribution was initially transferred by the applicant. | ||
Exmatriculation | Refunds due to de-registration are made automatically within the deadlines. In the event of exmatriculation before the start of the semester (i.e. by 30 September/31 March), the entire semester fees will be refunded. If you de-register after the start of the semester by 30 November (winter semester) or 31 May (summer semester), you will be reimbursed on a pro rata basis. No refunds will be made at later dates. | |
Not taking up studies | If you are not yet studying at Paderborn University but have been enrolled for the following semester and are now unable to commence your studies, it is possible to submit an informal application for a refund (by email) by the start of the semester (i.e. by 30 September/ 31 March). The date of receipt of the e-mail applies. | |
Stay of at least three months outside the area of validity of the semester ticket | If you spend at least three months outside the area of validity of the semester ticket, you can apply (PAUL > Studium > Antr?ge) for a refund of the semester ticket. The application must be received in full by the end of the semester of your stay (i.e. by 30 September / 31 March). Please note that a certificate from the AStA must be uploaded with the application.
