Erasmus+ KA171

The Erasmus+ programme of the European Union "Mobility with Partner Countries" (Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility or ICM) also provides financial support through Erasmus+ for mobility for teaching purposes(STA, for teaching staff) and for further education purposes(STT, for academic and non-academic staff) at selected non-European partner universities (outgoing). Teaching staff and employees of these selected partner universities can also be sponsored if contractually agreed (incoming).

Within the framework of this programme, Paderborn University cooperates with the partner countries Algeria, Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Israel, Cameroon, Kenya, Colombia, Morocco, Togo and Tunisia and the following partner universities:

General conditions

Mobility for teaching purposes (STA):

  • Eligible persons and conditions of participation: Lecturers and academic staff at UPB who have a contractual employment relationship with UPB. A teaching assignment or fee contract is not sufficient.
  • A valid Erasmus+ cooperation agreement with a partner university
  • Duration of teaching: 5 to 60 days (without travelling to and from the university) - depending on the availability of funds
  • Teaching duration: at least 8 hours of teaching in one week (7 days) or a shorter period. For each additional day of stay beyond one week (7 days): at least 1.6 h per day

Mobility for further education and training purposes (STT):

  • Eligible persons and conditions of participation: Persons who have a contractual employment relationship with UPB. A teaching assignment or fee contract is not sufficient.
  • Possible duration of the training and further education programme: 5 to 60 days (not including travel) - depending on the availability of funds

Financial support

  • Erasmus+ funding is limited. In general, the application deadline is at least 6 weeks before the start of the mobility programme. If a visa is required (incoming and outgoing), it would be advisable to apply at least 3 months before the mobility (the sooner the better), as the waiting times for the embassy appointment and the issuing of the visa can unfortunately take quite a long time. In some cases, it is necessary to apply for a German tax identification number. You should allow extra time for this as well.
  • Funding of the days spent at the host institution (by means of daily flat rates), travel allowance (according to distance to the host institution) and additional travel days for the arrival and departure days (0-6 days, depending on requirements and means of transport).
  • Under certain conditions, a real cost application can be submitted

The travelling allowance is calculated on the basis of the actual distances between the place of departure and destination of the mobility. The distances are determined using the Commission's calculation tool.

In order to make the programme and its impact on the environment as climate-friendly as possible, mobility with a distance of less than 500 km should generally be covered by low-emission means of transport.
