Gambling in the name of science? Paderborn University's answer to this is a resounding "yes". On Wednesday, 8 October, it celebrated the reopening of the GamesLab and the institution of the VR Lab - an experimental playground for virtual reality (VR).
Prof. Dr. Anette Buyken from the Institute for Nutrition, Consumption and Health at Paderborn University is the new Vice President of the German Nutrition Society (DGE).

Jun. Prof. Dr Nicholas A. Güsken, physicist and nanotechnologist at Paderborn University, is being sponsored by the Wübben Science Foundation for a period of five years with a total of around 1.2 million euros.
We now encounter artificial intelligence (AI) almost everywhere. However, it is often difficult to understand the decisions made by AI. In the Collaborative Research Centre/Transregio (TRR) 318 at Paderborn University and Bielefeld University, researchers are therefore working on making explanatory processes more understandable for users.
When it comes to early childhood education, the state government prioritises the promotion of language skills among the youngest children in North Rhine-Westphalia. It is therefore driving forward the further development of language education integrated into everyday life.
Together with regional sponsors, Paderborn University recently awarded the 19th Business Sponsorship Prize to 265 students in the eighth and ninth grades of grammar schools and comprehensive schools in the H?xter and Paderborn districts.
