TRR 142 - Plasmonic nano-antenna enhanced nonlinear light emission and frequency conversion in dielectric and semiconductor micro-structures (A05)
Overview
The project deals with the enhancement of the weak light-matter interaction for nonlinear optical processes. Resonant excitation of coherent electron oscillations in metallic nanostructures can lead to strong field enhancements due to an antenna effect for the photons. With a suitable spatial arrangement of such antennas, even a kind of phase matching can be achieved. The project investigates the potential to enhance nonlinear effects in selected dielectric materials, opening the possibility of new highly efficient nonlinear hybrid materials.
