About Thomas Zentgraf

Professor Thomas Zentgraf holds diploma degrees in Physics from the Technical University of Clausthal, Germany, as well as in Engineering from the Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences Jena, Germany. In 2006 he finished his Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. Harald Giessen at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research Stuttgart and the University of Stuttgart, Germany. Thereafter, he worked as a Humboldt Research Fellow in the group of Prof. Xiang Zhang at the University of California at Berkeley, USA, where he led the plasmonics research activities. Since May 2011 he is head of the Ultrafast Nanophotonics Research Group at Paderborn University. In 2016 he received an ERC Consolidator Grant for studying the nonlinear light-matter-interaction. In 2020 he became the Chairman of the Center for Optoelectronics & Photonics Paderborn and in 2021 Fellow of the Max Planck School of Photonics. His present research is focused on studying nano-optical system and artificially structured materials for optical applications by linear and nonlinear optical spectroscopy.
