Cal­li­graphy work­shop of the For­um for Com­par­at­ive Theo­logy

The Forum for Comparative Theology at Paderborn University is organising a calligraphy workshop on Monday, 2 June, from 9.45 am to 2 pm (room to be announced), in which essential forms and principles of Arabic calligraphy will be described. The workshop is aimed at adult participants. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage, but not required. Further information, the programme and the registration link can be found on the event page.

The significance of Arabic calligraphy is particularly evident in its interaction with other arts such as architecture, architecture and painting. Original works by the artist Iyad Shraim will also be exhibited. In the practical and theoretical units of the four-hour course, participants will learn how to write simple lettering using the classical dot system of Arabic calligraphy with a bamboo pen (qalam).
