Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

?

… is an additional security measure used to protect user accounts.

?

Use two-factor authentication as soon as an online service enables it.

Many services have this function deactivated by default but still offer it. It is worth checking the login procedures.

If your password or PIN falls into the wrong hands, your sensitive data will still be well-protected if it is safeguarded from unauthorized access by a second factor.

How Two-Factor Authentication Works | BSI

Two-factor authentication (2FA) requires a password and a second factor, such as a fingerprint, a code sent via email or text message, or a TAN generator. This second factor can be something you own or a biometric. This makes it more difficult for hackers to access accounts, even if they know the password, and it offers additional protection.
