Software Innovation Lab (SI-Lab)
The SI-Lab is a central scientific institution of Paderborn University, an interdisciplinary research institution and as such part of the SICP - Software Innovation Campus Paderborn.
The SICP - Software Innovation Campus Paderborn was initiated in 2013 by Paderborn University, ten technology companies in the region and other partners. The aim is close cooperation between business and science as a key success factor in the transfer of research results into marketable, software-intensive innovations.
The campus model
The main innovation in the cooperation between the SICP partners is the campus model, which sponsors direct transorganisational and transdisciplinary cooperation.
The Software Innovation Lab has five competence areas, each of which is scientifically headed by a director (university lecturer) and operationally managed by a manager.
The areas of expertise are orientated towards the needs of companies and society.

More than 30 Paderborn University professors from the fields of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Economics, Business Informatics and Cultural Studies are involved in the SICP. With their expertise and the competences of their respective departments, they contribute the necessary scientific and interdisciplinary know-how, which is compiled in projects as required.
Prof. Dr Daniel Beverungen is Chairman of the Board of the SI-Lab at Paderborn University within the SICP, while Prof. Dr Stefan Sauer and Dr Gunnar Schomaker are responsible for its management.
