The Direct Manufacturing Research Center (DMRC) of the University of Paderborn was founded ten years ago. On Thursday, September 26, a two-day conference was held to mark this anniversary. Representatives* from science, business, industry and associations will discuss topics from the field of additive manufacturing with the participants*.
"With the DMRC, we are celebrating a innovation incubator for additive manufacturing that has an impact far beyond the region. The university's contribution to the common good is no longer a matter of course, because universities must also show society why they should be given freedoms and above all resources for research and teaching," emphasized Prof. Dr. René Fahr, Vice President for Knowledge and Technology Transfer at the university in his welcoming address. Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart, Economics Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, then gave a lecture on the influence of additive manufacturing on the local and European economy and praised the developments at the University of Paderborn: "It is a great pleasure to be back on campus here and I am enthusiastic about everything that has developed here. Today I stand here and can admire your work. I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to all those who have contributed to this great success".
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hans-Joachim Schmid, scientific director of the DMRC, and Dr.-Ing. Christian-Friedrich Lindemann, managing director of the DMRC, moderated the start of the event. The conference, which is divided into five different sections, offers the participants after each section the opportunity to exchange ideas with technology experts within the framework of an interactive panel discussion. After impulses from representatives of 365体育_足球比分网¥投注直播官网mens, Porsche, Volkswagen and T?V Süd, among others, discussion rounds will follow on the industrial application of research, quality criteria in the additive process chain, the use of this technology in the mobility sector and future developments.
In addition to discussion rounds and keynotes, the supporting programme also includes a project trade fair and exhibition at which participants can find out about the latest research results from chairs and industrial partners. A dinner and an evening event have once again underlined the networking character of the conference.
