Thanks to last year's project “MusicXML integration in meico,” the meico converter framework was expanded to include a comprehensive API (application programming interface) for the MusicXML data format. Initial preparations have been made for conversion to and from MusicXML. Among other things, corresponding converter classes and methods have been created. Our goal in this project is to fill these with functionalities. To this end, we want to focus first on the conversion from MEI to MusicXML. This is the basis for enabling MEI to be imported into commercially available music and music notation programs, which has not been possible until now. We can build on the existing implementation of MEI-to-MSM/MPM conversion; many of the functionalities can be transferred relatively quickly with appropriate adjustments. This means that a comprehensive (albeit not complete) and immediately usable conversion can be developed within the financial framework of this funding.
