On Tuesday, 12 October, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Hakan Pihl and Prof. Dr. Martin Jens Persson from the Swedish Kristianstad University visited Paderborn University. The Swedish university is a member of a higher education alliance which, together with Paderborn University and five other European partner universities, is submitting an application in the EU funding line "European Universities Initiative". The joint application is coordinated by Paderborn University in the working area of the Vice President for International Relations, Prof. Dr. Torsten Meier.
In addition to a welcome and an exchange with the President of Paderbron University, Prof. Dr. Birgitt Riegraf, the status and plans for current cooperation between the two universities were discussed at the meeting. On the part of Paderborn University, Prof. Dr. Elke Grimminger-Seidensticker (Department of Sport and Health), who conducts joint research with colleagues at Kristianstad University, and PD Dr. Jarmila Mildorf (Institute of English and American Studies), who is the specialist contact person for student exchange, took part in the discussions. There was also an intensive exchange of ideas and planning for the joint application in the "European Universities Initiative". Marco Rustemeyer, coordinator of the European University Alliance, and Davina Stiller, assistant to the Vice President for International Relations, also took part in these discussions.
