Bandeja, slice, drive or the classic smash ball - since June, sports enthusiasts at the Paderborn University have been able to try out the various strokes of the trend sport padel tennis. A new facility for the backstroke game has been built on the sports campus in recent months. University members and alumni can now book the courts via the sports booking system on the University's sports (HSP) website.
"Padel is a mixture of tennis and squash and is already widespread in Spain and South America. It is also becoming increasingly popular in Germany. That's why we're happy to be able to offer it here on the sports campus," says Uli Kussin, head of the HSP. The courts can be played on free of charge. For five euros, students, trainees, staff and alumni can borrow a material box (4 rackets + 3 balls) at the Health & Training Centre (GTZ) from Mondays to Fridays between noon and 9 p.m. Use is only possible with prior booking. The new time slots for the courts and for borrowing equipment are always published on Wednesdays for the coming week.
