Green Hydrogen: can water fuel the future?

Thursday | April 25th, 2024 | 16:15-17:45  | Lecture Hall L1

Abstract:

Hydrogen is the simplest element known, the most abundant element in the universe. When it is in the form of hydrogen gas, it is an ideal fuel. However, hydrogen isn't found in natural deposits like coal or natural gas, so it must be made from molecules that contain hydrogen. Luckily water contains hydrogen and we can use water to produce hydrogen gas. However, what is the necessity of hydrogen, and what methods can we employ to generate it from water? Let’s find out together.

Personal Description:

Dr. Ying Pan is now a postdoctoral researcher sponsored by the Postdoc-Stipendium UPB for Young Female Scientists. She is working in the group of Jun. Prof. M. Nieves Lopez Salas in the Department of Chemistry at UPB. She obtained her Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of New South Wales in Sydney Australia, before she completed her master’s degree in the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. Dr. Pan is working on advancing the field of sustainable energy production, particularly on the development of innovative catalysts that hold promise for green fuel generation.
