Academic staff at Paderborn University

Academic pay-scale staff are employees assigned to Paderborn University faculties, academic institutions or operating units, who, pursuant to their employment contract, are obliged to perform research and teaching duties. Where academic staff are assigned to the remit of a professor, they are authorised to issue instructions.

Academic staff have the task of imparting knowledge and expertise and practical skills to students and instructing them in the application of scientific methods to the extent necessary to deliver course content.

The duties of academic pay-scale employees are defined in § 44 of the North Rhine-Westphalia Higher Education Act (HG NRW).
