Old border crossings and new boundaries. Incitement to pop-cultural (further) discussions

The event series "KW in dialogue - an incitement to transdisciplinary discussion" invites different perspectives to challenge each other in academic dialogue and thus contribute to the further development of those research perspectives. It is organised by Dr. Julia Diederich and Dr. Anda-Lisa Harmening. The structure of the event is designed to provoke challenging transdisciplinary encounters that, in addition to concrete project discussions, also engage in dialogue about (self-)understanding as a cultural scientist. To this end, thematic clusters were formed on the basis of four research centres based at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in order to engage in in-depth debate and discussion. Registration is not necessary.

The history of gendered thinking and gendered knowledge production is as old as the humanities and cultural studies themselves. In contrast, interdisciplinary gender studies as an academically institutionalised discipline is a comparatively young field of research and knowledge.

In the seminar ‘Gender Studies - History and Development’, students on the Master's degree programme ‘Gender Studies’ explore the genesis of gender studies as an interdisciplinary subject and examine the opportunities and challenges associated with the interdisciplinary nature of gender studies. Furthermore, the students deal with gender theoretical and gender analytical perspectives in their respective second subjects. The results and findings from the participatory seminar work are shared by the students and lecturers in a joint presentation.
