Coaching Programmes at Paderborn University

Staff Development supports academic managers as well as managers and employees in technology and administration with individual coaching services.

Coaching enables you to reflect on your professional role, strengthen your personal skills and effectively deal with specific challenges in your day-to-day work. The coaching is tailored to your individual needs and offers space for personal development in a confidential setting.

Individual coaching

Our coaching programme offers you a protected environment in which to reflect on and work on individual issues together with a professional external coach. As a manager, you have the opportunity to further develop your leadership skills and address specific concerns - for example in dealing with employees, in change processes or in shaping your leadership strategy - in a solution-oriented manner. Professors benefit in particular from the opportunity to consciously shape and further develop their complex variety of roles between research, teaching and leadership.

Who is the coaching programme aimed at?

The following target groups can participate in the coaching programme

Professors and junior professors
Junior research group leaders and other academic staff with management responsibility
Managers in technology and administration
Employees in technology and administration who are confronted with far-reaching professional changes

What topics can be dealt with in coaching?

In coaching, you can bring in your own individual topics and challenges. Possible topics include

Personnel management and team organisation
Taking on new management functions or areas of responsibility
Reflection on your own role diversity
Positioning yourself within the university
Communication and conflict resolution strategies
Stress management and work-life balance etc.

How does the coaching programme work?

We work together with a pool of external, professional coaches. We will put you in touch with a coach. After a free initial meeting to get to know each other and clarify your goals, Paderborn University will finance up to six additional hours of coaching (further self-financed sessions are possible if required).
