SoTL at Paderborn University

Paderborn University - specifically through the Educational Innovation and University Didactics Unit - is also participating in this movement and, through the guided support of SoTL, offers lecturers from all disciplines the opportunity to further develop their teaching and the impact on student learning and to reflect on it in an evidence-based manner. This is done by asking specific research questions, reviewing literature, collecting a wide range of relevant data and then analysing this data on the basis of scientific guidelines (NHHL A1.10). In this process, the teachers use the research methodology of their own subject area.

As part of the "Professional Teaching Competence for Higher Education" certificate programme in Paderborn, lecturers complete the third module through SoTL. The resulting articles can be published in the "Paderborn Contributions" of the online journal die hochschullehre. A special feature of the contributions is the consideration of the teaching and learning framework prevailing at Paderborn University.

Target group
The target group consists in particular of the teaching staff or employees involved in the organisation of teaching at Paderborn University. In addition, the target group of the resulting contributions are all teachers and students of the same department at other universities.

The offer applies to all employees and professors of Paderborn University and is anchored here, among other things, in Module 3 of the higher education didactic certificate programme "Professional Teaching Competence for the University". Interested lecturers outside of the programme are also welcome to contact the team at the staff unit.

You can find the registration form for Module 3 here.
