About the ZeKK

The ZeKK is an interdisciplinary research institution at Paderborn University. The basic idea is the cooperation of different theologies and cultural studies in a research network, which enrich each other in discourse as equal partners through their different perspectives, experiences and methods. In addition to this central task, the ZeKK is committed to the academic examination of the anchored theologies with social tendencies towards anti-Semitism, Islamophobia and general secularist hostility towards religion.

The network maintains links with theological centres worldwide through research cooperation, the organisation of conferences, summer schools, study trips, public lecture series and interdisciplinary seminars. Another important goal is the transfer of science to society. This is made possible, among other things, by the "Forum for Comparative Theology", which was set up jointly with the University of Bonn and is sponsored by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The online platform is used to announce public events in the city, offer digital discussion formats and provide educational materials for day-care centres, schools and parishes.
