Target agreements to increase the proportion of women in science
The Presidential Board of Paderborn University has been concluding target agreements on gender equality with the five faculties since 2014. The target agreements are intended to serve both as an incentive system for increasing the proportion of women and for quality assurance.
The target agreements include increasing the proportion of women, particularly in the appointment of professors and in the field of early career researchers. The targeted rate of increase is to be based on the cascade model in accordance with the German Research Foundation and includes comparative figures from the state and nationwide.
As an incentive system, the Executive Board provides the faculties with financial resources if they achieve their targets. In addition, the faculties' gender equality goals will continue to be supported with accompanying central measures such as mentoring programmes, start-up funding for doctorates, scholarships for young female academics and childcare services.
