Gender-sensitive language - implementation at Paderborn University

On 12 June 2019, the Executive Board of Paderborn University decided to use the gender star for gender-sensitive language in all public documents of Paderborn University until further notice (adoption of a legal basis at state or federal level).

The gender star is intended to express the gender-conscious use of language, both male and female as well as non-binary gender identities. In order to ensure correct grammar in texts, pronouns and articles are usually also gendered (e.g. "sein*e Mitarbeiter*in"; der*die Professor*in).
