Welcome to the Orange Day 2025 campaign website

November 25 is Orange Day – the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The University of Paderborn is once again sending an important message this year by participating in the day of action.

An orange bench will be set up on campus as a symbol against violence against women. The bench will be located in the library foyer of Building B, on the wall facing the Picknick area, from November 25 to December 9. All members of the university are invited to take a photo of themselves there and thus make a personal gesture of solidarity. The picture can then be easily uploaded via a QR code. The photos will be collected and later published on this website on the day of action in order to send a strong and visible signal against violence against women.

Orange Day Activities

In addition to the selfie campaign on the orange bench, other campaigns will take place on campus and online around November 25:

  • The parking garage at Paderborn University will be illuminated in orange on November 25 as a visible symbol against violence against women.
  • The Studierendenwerk is once again participating with a bread bag campaign to raise awareness of the issue and send a message in the cafeterias and cafés. This campaign is a state-wide project launched by LaKof (State Conference of Equal Opportunities Officers at Universities).
  • LaKof also offers digital lectures that deal with various aspects of violence prevention and intervention. For example, violence against women in the digital space or through financial dependence is addressed.

Further information and dates for the digital offerings can be found here.

Measures & Information

A trusting, respectful, and tolerant working and studying atmosphere for all members and affiliates are important values and goals to which Paderborn University is committed. This commitment excludes discrimination, bullying, stalking, sexual harassment, and violence.

Paderborn University does not tolerate any form of sexual discrimination or violence and takes measures to ensure a discrimination- and violence-free study and work environment. This year, the guideline for “Respectful Coexistence and Protection against Disadvantage, Discrimination, Sexual Violence, and Bullying” was therefore adopted at Paderborn University.

Every first and third Thursday of the month from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Paderborn women's counseling center Lilith offers consultation hours at the University of Paderborn, which female students and employees who have experienced sexual discrimination and violence can attend. The Lilith Women's Counseling Center is a non-profit association that operates independently of religious denominations, political parties, public institutions, and associations. Its work focuses on counseling and supporting women who are currently experiencing or have experienced emotional, physical, or sexual violence in the past. No appointment is necessary.
