Public Engagement Event: Paderborn in transition - Shaping the city of tomorrow together

Location: garage33
Organizer: COLOURS UPB

The city of Paderborn is facing an exciting challenge: how can the city become a "smart city" in the coming years? What does it take to increase the quality of life for citizens, strengthen the economy and at the same time promote sustainable and future-proof urban development? We invite all interested citizens, students and employees of Paderborn University as well as representatives from business, research and administration to an exchange on the future development of Paderborn in the context of digital and ecological transformation.

Jonathan Behm, Managing Director of the New Mobility Initiative (NeMo), presents the work and vision of the network in a keynote speech. Founded in Paderborn, NeMo has developed into a Germany-wide association that works together to create a sustainable mobility ecosystem. The aim is to realise innovative and sustainable mobility for urban and rural areas.

The keynote speech will be followed by a moderated panel discussion with experts from various fields who will shed light on key aspects of digital and ecological urban development. Among others, representatives from the Smart City Team of the City of Paderborn will present the ‘Smart City Model Project’, which aims to maintain and further develop Paderborn as a future-proof, sustainable, safe and, above all, liveable city. Another participant is Christine Wegner, Digitalisation Project Manager from Etteln. The district in the Paderborn district has been recognised for its digital networking and awarded the title of best ‘Smart City’ worldwide - an impressive example of how even smaller municipalities can take innovative paths in the digital transformation and thus provide valuable impetus for Paderborn's development.

Following the panel discussion, the City of Paderborn invites participants to a guided tour of the “Zukunftsquartier” – a central location for innovative urban development. Afterwards, all attendees will reconvene at garage33 for a shared buffet and the opportunity to continue networking and exchanging ideas in a relaxed setting.

The aim of the event is to promote dialogue between the various stakeholders, taking into account people's needs as well as the potential of digitalisation and sustainability. We offer space for discussion and exchange: How can we jointly develop innovative solutions for the challenges of a smart city? What needs do citizens, businesses and the administration see?

We look forward to a stimulating exchange and to taking a look into the future of urban development together with you.

Please note: The number of participants for the event is limited. We therefore ask you to register in advance

We look forward to your participation!
